Industry pain points, chaotic competition threatens the safety bottom line

The energy storage industry is rapidly expanding, but it has also buried significant hidden dangers. Over the past three years, the average price of energy storage systems has dropped by about 80%, with some bulk procurement project bid prices even falling below 0.4 yuan/Wh.

Zeng Yuqun issued a warning about this: "Comprehensive marketization will accelerate industry reshuffling, and it is expected that a large number of companies will be eliminated within three years, resulting in a large number of unattended 'orphan power stations', which will bring social burdens."

Facing increasingly severe security challenges, on October 16, 2025, at the Fifth Energy Storage Safety Seminar and the National Key R&D Program project "International Lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage Safety Evaluation Key Technology Cooperation R&D" seminar held in Tianjin, the "Self-Regulatory Practice Guidelines for Container Lithium Battery Energy Storage Systems" was officially released.
This document is led by the Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance and jointly formulated by 25 leading enterprises in the industry. It is the first systematic safety baseline self-discipline specification for container lithium battery energy storage systems in the industry.
The enterprises involved in the formulation cover leading companies in all segments of the energy storage industry chain, including CATL, Eve Energy, Sungrow Power, Guoxuan High-Tech, and Penghui Energy, and have broad industry representation.

Core content, establish five major principles and bottom line requirements

"Priority, controllable risk, green and low carbon, compatible and interconnected, quality traceable," has pointed out the direction for the design of energy storage systems.
This guide sets clear baseline requirements for system parameters, key subsystems, and components.
In response to the key issues of concern in the industry, the "Self-Discipline Practice Guidelines" have made detailed recommendations, including large-scale fire tests, fire effectiveness assessments, system reliability evaluations, information security, as well as battery thermal management and ease of maintenance.
It is worth noting that the requirements of the standards also extend to the quality management of energy storage system integration and battery production, achieving full-chain quality control from production to integration.
